So Damn Lucky

Dear Ducky,

Thanks for letting me be your Mom. I try my best, I hope you know that. A lot of things are different since last Mother’s Day. We used to stay home together, and now you go to “school” 5 days a week. I miss you all day long, but I know you’re having a great time with your friends and teachers. You must, because every morning when you wake up, you ask if you can go to school. :-)

You continue to amaze your father and me with how smart you are. You are totally speaking in complete sentences now, which blows us away. This from I child whose entire vocabulary consisted of “Da-Da” and “DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”. And you pronounce your name so beautifully now. It took you a while, but you’ve really gotten the hang of it. Clearly since we picked your name, we liked how it sounded, but man, it sounds 100 times better to hear you day it.

You run and jump every chance you get, and you love to draw so much, you even pack markers in your “purse” Once in a blue moon, you actually chew and swallow something voluntarily. I could go on and on, but I’ll end here my precious girl. You mean everything to your father and me. We still don’t know what we’ve done to deserve a great kid like you.

I love you, and no matter what, you’ll always be my Ducky-Duck. Thank you for making this day necessary. I hope someday I can wish you a Happy Mother’s Day, too.

Love,

Mommy
